Abstract:  In this Thesis are examined and presented the methods that can diagnose and support the patient. Firstly, the polysomnographic sleep study is introduced, which takes place in sleep research centers. Subsequently are studied several sleep diagnostic equipment that are able to export similar results to those of the research centers, but also newest methods such as applications for mobile devices (smartphones, tablets), which monitor and record plenty of sleep parameters. The reasons described above led to design a diagnostic system for sleep breathing disorders that has three parts. The first is a wearable device that measures and records biosignals. The second part is a device that monitors sleep activity, providing information about the sleep quality of the examined. The last part is an application that monitors and records the sleeping process and provides information about its quality. All the above led to the development of two applications which can help evaluate the quality of sleep.

Abstract:  Ο δικτυακός χώρος ενός εκπαιδευτικού ιδρύματος τριτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, αλλά και γενικά οποιουδήποτε εκπαιδευτικού ιδρύματος, αποτελεί την πύλη του, προς τον έξω κόσμο. Το διαδίκτυο είναι πλέον ο η πιο διαδεδομένη μέθοδος επικοινωνίας, ενημέρωσης και ψυχαγωγίας στον κόσμο. Αν κάποιος χρειαστεί να λάβει πληροφορίες για κάποιο εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα, από το τηλέφωνο επικοινωνίας του, μέχρι το εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό ή τις τελευταίες ανακοινώσεις του, θα το αναζητήσει σίγουρα στο διαδίκτυο. Έτσι μπορούμε να καταλάβουμε την σπουδαιότητα του δικτυακού χώρου ενός εκπαιδευτικού ιδρύματος, για αμεσότητα, πληρότητα στο περιεχόμενο του, λειτουργικότητα και ευκολία στην χρήση του. Στην παρούσα πτυχιακή θα μελετήσουμε τις προδιαγραφές που χρειάζεται να ακολουθεί ένας σύγχρονος δικτυακός χώρος τριτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, ώστε να αποτελεί πρότυπο για όλα τα εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα. Ο σχεδιαζόμενος δικτυακός χώρος πιθανόν να αποτελέσει τον νέο δικτυακό χώρο του τμήματος Ηλεκτρονικών Μηχανικών ΤΕ του ΤΕΙ Πειραιά. Για την υλοποίηση του δικτυακού τόπου, τίθενται όλες οι απαιτήσεις και προδιαγραφές που εξυπηρετούν τους σκοπούς και τις ανάγκες για μια σύγχρονη ενημερωμένη ιστοσελίδα, με στρατηγική να καταστεί ένα πραγματικά χρήσιμο εργαλείο. Μελετήθηκαν όλες οι τεχνολογίες και συστήματα διαχείρισης περιεχομένου, προκειμένου να γίνει επιλογή των καταλλήλων εργαλείων, επιλύοντας τα περισσότερα προβλήματα και ζητήματα που είχαμε θέσει. Για την δημιουργία και την υλοποίηση του δικτυακού μας χώρου, χτίσαμε στα πλαίσια της πλατφόρμας Joomla, με επεκτάσεις και πρόσθετα που περιγράφονται αναλυτικά στην εργασία. Τέλος μελετήθηκαν οι επεκτάσεις και οι μελλοντικές προσθήκες του δικτυακού χώρου με τεχνολογίες και επεκτάσεις που ήδη διαθέτει το εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα για την εξυπηρέτηση των σπουδαστών.

Abstract:  In this thesis we created a prototype of a home automation system for the remote control of electric devices based on a platform of open-code micro-controllers and cause effective programming. This system allows us to remotely control home devices via mobile phone and the Internet.

Abstract:  Virtualization has changed the way that we view Information Technology in recent years. Instead of using many different systems to perform various tasks, virtualization enables us a unified system with centralized administration to host applications and services. Virtualization is set to become a baseline technology in the near future. The thesis examines the advantages for an organization stemming from desktop virtualization using cloud technology. Emphasis is given to the use of mobile devices as they are offering the same functionality once found on a personal computer. Desktop virtualization is implemented using cloud technology. The concepts of security, administration, the benefits that ensue from cloud usage and the legal framework are all analyzed. The thesis includes a case study using Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Data Center Edition environment. An environment for virtual desktop distribution has been created using Microsoft’s Hyper-V2. A detailed guide is available. A Session Pool has been developed with several applications in it, to enable their use by remote users via a browser from any device, be it a PC, a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. This thesis serves as a point of reference to readers that wish to acquire in-depth knowledge into Virtualization and Cloud Computing technologies. It compares the baseline virtualization platforms, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each in order to help the reader formulate a well-informed decision. Finally, it presents the immediate benefits that can be had from an organization that adopts virtualization as a technology (such as Companies, Universities, Public Organizations and Institutions, etc.).

Abstract:  As the mobile operating system ecosystem grows, a wide range of mobile devices with novel sensors and capabilities have become available. In the context of this thesis we utilize the capabilities of modern mobile devices to create the basis of an incident identication service. Incident oriented services aim to help civilians and authorities coordinate their eorts and ultimately overcome an incident situation, such as forest res. In the proposed service, users operating Android powered devices featuring a GPS receiver and orientation sensors, send reports about the approximate location of an incident. A server accumulates these reports and tries to identify with accuracy the location of the incident on a map. The proposed service is able to detect both static and evolving incidents using a range of different algorithms to adjust for each use case.

Abstract:  This thesis has as its subject the study of the information-centric networks which are an approach to redesign the current architecture of the internet. Nowadays requirements in networking, outreach the abilities of the today’s internet as a result of the fundamentals principles that dates back to the end of the 70’s when the networking was firstly appears. The most important change that is proposed by information- centric networks is the pass from location-centric networks, to content-centric. The users are interested in content (what) and do not care about the source of it (where). This work presents the facts that leads to the imperative need of a new content-aware network, the implementations that exists in this approach and points out the problems that have to face in order to avoid previous mistakes. The ultimate purpose of this work, is to build a model of information-centric networks in ns-3 and extract results from a simulation paradigm.

Abstract:  In this thesis paper we are presenting an idea and the creation of a fresh and innovative application in the motorcycle industry. More specifically, we created an application, which with the help of the smartphone’s operating system, is capable to provide a series of necessary information. These ones are covering a wide range of the necessaries of motorcycle riders like possible motorcycle errors notification, the fuel levels, even more the closest fuel stations, in order to make the rider’s life simpler and easier. Apart from the above, it is worth to mention the importance of our application, which is consistent with the safety of both the motorcycle and the owner. Practically, this means that we can start and stop the motorcycle’s engine via our smartphone using a unique verification key for each motorcycle. Something like this, helps to reduce the possibility of our motorcycle theft. Talking about the safety of riders, some future updates are already in progress, which are associated not only with the information of helmet wearing, but also with the motorcycle tracking through GPS and Social Media in an emergency situation.

Abstract:  The rapidly developing information and communication technologies offer new opportunities in the educational process and allow the use of new means of knowledge representation and the learner's participation in the learning process. Among the educational community there is a need to design educational programming environments that will promote the self-motivation, cooperation, active participation of the students and the development of their creativity and imagination. The object of this thesis is to develop digital applications by utilizing the potentials of the visual programming tool, Kodu, focusing on introducing students of Primary Education in the basic concepts of programming with an aim to assist the development of the necessary knowledge and skills for the participation in evolving Knowledge Society. The purpose of the thesis is to present to the educational community, educational digital applications with Kodu, as suggested educational material that fully supported the teaching of various disciplines and aligned with the philosophy and the objectives of ICT literacy in the modern Curriculum. The visual environment was used in the educational process and the results of the pilot implementation indicate that it promotes the exploratory and collaborative learning, offers to learners an attractive interface and attracts, among others, the excitement to create technology.
